Hi! I have a PhD in math from UT Austin, where I specialized in probability and financial math. Throughout the years of studying and doing mathematics, I successfully participated in math olympiads and coached younger students; tutored calculus, probability, and financial math; TA’d for various math courses at UT Austin; and taught computational finance at the University of Alberta. I provide patient and thoughtful guidance to help student actually grasp the concepts and understand the topic.

My name is Tays, and I hold an MA and PhD in Human Neuroscience from Cornell University and an Honours BSc in Psychology Research with an English Minor from UofT. I have seven years of experience teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with formal training in writing instruction. I specialize in essay writing, scientific writing, GRE prep, and personal statement coaching, and also have experience teaching reading, writing, and math to elementary and high school students.

My experience includes 13 years as an Education Assistant, 14 years as an Academic Tutor and 15 years as a Behaviour Therapist. My education includes 3 certificates in Orton Gillingham language and math, an Education Assistant certificate, and numerous courses in phonics and the science of reading. I have specialized training to support students with ASD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and learning disabilities.

I have an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto in Art and Art History and English. Recently, I have also achieved TESOL certification and I have completed a grammar refresher course with the University of Waterloo. My manner is friendly and patient, and I strive to develop lessons that are appropriate to the learner.

I am a SAIT instructor of core courses with a PhD in quantum physics. I have been tutoring private students for 20 years on a wide variety of topics at high school, college and university levels and enjoying it and its challenges. I offer private tutoring at your home, your preferred place or any of Calgary public libraries. I also offer tutoring online via zoom or MS teams.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Guelph Biomedical Science, Honours Program and in pursuit of Medical School. Along with the qualifications of my BSc, I bring 15 years of experience in leadership roles across multiple industries including hospitality, sales, and peer-support. I am a self-taught, highly-motivated student and teacher who believes you can accomplish whatever you put your mind to. My non-traditional path to success allows me to empathize with the unconventional learner.

With over 20 years of teaching experience, I am an Ontario Certified Teacher licensed to teach Mathematics and ESL. I am highly versatile in online instruction, using interactive websites, visual models, and guided digital tools to explain concepts clearly. My teaching focuses on making ideas intuitive, reducing confusion, and helping students truly understand what they are learning.

I am a trained teacher currently working at an elementary school. I also have a Masters Degree in Library and can help with research. I have been working at public schools in British Columbia for almost twenty years. I am most comfortable working with elementary to grade 9 students.

Serene is a Reg. Educational Therapist accredited by the National Institute of Learning Development (NILD). She has a background in interdisciplinary education and communication disorders. She has extensive experience working with children/youth with communication challenges. She has shifted her scope toward providing intervention for students with learning disabilities, emphasizing in structured literacy and cognitive development through individualized treatment.
