The Fun Run team's goals (and results!)

This is the second time findAtutor.ca has had a 5K Fun Run team supporting the BC Science Fair Foundation.

Everyone needs a goal, so before the race, I asked everyone if they had a goal, and what it is. At the time I'm writing this, the race is done, but "official" results have not been posted yet. I'll edit the post to add everyone's final results when they become available.

The results are in! Look for them in italics below!

Here are our team members:

James (part of the findAtutor.ca family) goal: under 30 minutes. Chip time: 29:09, you met your goal, yeah!

Daya (an English and social studies tutor in Richmond, BC) goal: No real goal - under one hour - expect to finish in 50-55 minutes. (Way to keep it real Daya!) Chip time: 49:12, you finnished even ahead of your expected time, excellent!

Johanna (part of the findAtutor.ca family) goal: under 30 minutes (although I suspected 35 minutes is more realistic, especially seeing all the young and energetic team members that also hoped to finish in under 30 minutes). Chip time: 36:25, I was overly optimistic in my abilities. I think I'll have to set a more realistic goal next year, or train MUCH harder!

Julia (part of the findAtutor.ca family) goal: under 30 minutes (or to beat Johanna). Chip time: 28:10, our fastest team member! Very impressive, she also was 3rd in her age category, and beat James (legitimately) in a race for the first time. Congratulations!

Bill (an English, math and science tutor in Maple Ridge, BC) goal: No real goal - not as fast as last time - realistically under 40 minutes. (Bill blew us all out of the water when he ran with our team 2 years ago!) Chip time: 30:37, and yet again, Bill gave an impressive showing!

Tara (part of the Bill team) goal: under 30 minutes. Chip time: 30:36, just eeking out Bill by a second!

See our team picture on Facebook!

Team goal: 2 years ago we had a findAtutor.ca team for the first time, in the team division we finished LAST. There weren't enough team members to be an "official" team last year, my hope is that we would NOT finish last this year. We finished 22 out of 24 in the corporate division with an average time of 31:52. We did it! Yeah team!

Also, everyone agreed on a goal for next year: to have even more people come out to join us! 5K is a very nice walking distance for those that don't run, or don't want to run. Set your goal, create a plan and work towards it. Most importantly, just get out there and do it!
